Today's recipe is a simple yet decadent snack. This appetizer will mentally whisk you off to a small cafe on the banks of the Seine. The boys had fun making it and are quickly realizing that good food is actually quite easy to make.
brie and raspberry appetizer
1 Brie cheese
Slice top layer off of the Brie cheese. Place Brie in a baking dish. Spoon on raspberry preserves and spread evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes. Top with fresh raspberries. Serve hot with crackers or melba toast. Try different fruit preserves. Top with nuts, if desired.
Our next version of this recipe will be made with our homemade strawberry freezer jam and pumpernickel bread. You may also add chopped walnuts or give some fresh apricot preserves a try.
The two chefs were delighted with the results and enjoyed the silliness that ensued at the dinner table as they did their best french waiter impressions. To me, they sounded more like Pepé Le Pew.
